Simply running the following on the Win 7 clients and restarting resolves the issue:

sc config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi

sc config mrxsmb20 start= disabled

(after restarting you can check the SMB 2.0 service status by running “sc query mrxsmb20″ – should be “stopped”)
